Good job, teabaggers. Your idiocy is going to hurt everyone. =P

The only reason there could possibly be any question about the credit rating is political. The only thing preventing a deal significantly reducing the deficit is the Tea Party's fanatical anti-tax absolutism, at a time when the total tax burden is at its lowest levels in decades.

Don't think it will happen. I don't see bonds spiking in price just because S&P or Moody's lowers the ratings. Investors know that the US won't ultimately default on debt payments. Yields will remain low until inflation picks up.

$100b a year ? There goes 1 Trillion over ten years. So much for the vaunted savings from spending cuts.

It's written into some documents that exist already, though.

I've heard right wing people try to spin it as "They're going to downgrade us if we don't balance the budget RIGHT NOW It's all Democrat's fault for not agreeing to the Republican all-cuts plan"

Ugh. THE STOOPID. Bonds aren't downgraded because of a deficit. They're downgraded if you fail to pay interest on them!
